Arrogance Around the World

From the South Pole Jerry writes....

As you may have heard we have a plane coming in to pick up our Doc. He
passed a gallstone a few weeks ago and the concern is that he might have a
relapse before season end, which could be life threatening. This will be
the first time ever (ever) that an aircraft has landed at South Pole. Needless
to say I have been very busy getting the station prepared to receive an
aircraft in the winter. The temperature was -82F (-150F with the windchill!)
I can attest that -150F is cold. My feet are not happy campers.

Word is the plane will offdeck from Rothera (the British base on the
peninsula) in a few hours. We will lose satellite shortly but I will keep
you all posted as time allows. Everything else is going well here. We had
a fabulous Easter and the auroras come out often to say hello. Cheers!

Here's some pics from last night. All is well here at South Pole and as you
may have heard the mission was a success. I got two hours sleep in the past
36 so I'll be crashing and burning soon. Hope to have a nice writeup soon so
stand by. And keep your eye on the Sunday LA Times!

I did take some photos earlier in the season (when the sun was still out)
but I wasn't really happy with them. couldn't get good contrast without a
flash. Unfortunately I never found the time to take more! No one here had
ever heard of Stone Brewing Company before, but you can bet they'll all
remember it when they leave! Here's the pics I have (see below). Somewhere I
have a great photo of my office. We had to store all the beer in there since there
was no other space on station. Convenient!

It is really great to have your beer down here, and I'm especially grateful
for the Anniversary IPA and Russian Imperial Stout. As a matter of fact I
think I'll crack an IPA and celebrate a successful rescue mission from South
Pole. Cheers!

Editor: Glad to hear the landing and take off went well Jerry!
Good thing you have some Arrogance to keep you warm.

So, who's going to be the first to crack some Arrogance at the North Pole?
